Fairbanks

All of these pictures are from the first two and a half weeks we lived in Fairbanks with Dick and Linda. Fairbanks is mostly rolling hills with TONS of trees and then the mountains are in the distance. On a clear day you can see Mt. McKinley which is about 150 miles from Fairbanks, so you can just see the top of it.Town of Fairbanks below the mountain range.

When we stayed with the Eickman's we helped them build a greenhouse in their garden.

Sandhill cranes come and land in their yard quite often in the summer.

Finished project :)

Mountains on the outskirts of Fairbanks using the zoom :)
Only can see these mountains every once in a while as a lot of the time they are covered by smoke. Fires started last year and stayed smoldering under the snow all winter and then flared up again this summer.
This is what you can see of Mt. McKinley from Fairbanks, still looks huge and this is just the top!

Dan and Bev Spears who live right across the road from the Eickman's.

Dick and Linda Eickman :)

Headed for Anchorage, AK on June 8th to see if we could find jobs down there as didn't have any luck in Fairbanks.

An abandoned hotel that someone built to resemble an igloo on the road halfway between Fairbanks and Anchorage. We went thru Glitter Gluch where Denali and Mt. McKinley are but it was way to cloudy to see Mt. McKinley...only 12 percent of tourists in the summer are able to see Mt. McKinley but people can see it almost every day in the winter.

Made it to Anchorage, it is about 6 hours from Fairbanks.

Made it to Alaska!

On Saturday, the 22nd we finished the drive thru Canada and made it to Fairbanks, AK. The road was pretty bumpy between Haines Junction and the Alaskan/Canadian Border. The drive was fun but we were pretty excited to be at our final destination...for a little while anyway!
This lake was really cool cuz since it was so calm the reflections in it were awesome!

My good-looking guy :)

And a good-looking truck that took us the whole way :)

The road between Haines Junction and the Alaska border was quite a rough one from all the permafrost.

Welcome to Alaska!!!

So happy to be back on US soil, wasn't too fond of Canada! (Sorry Lisa!) ;)

Yes, Alaska is GORGEOUS!!!

Some places are still frozen!

Excited we are getting so close!

Another moose :)
Raymon wanted a picture to show they bale hay up here too! Not in very many places tho.

We made it!!! 3639 miles, 60 hours, and 45 minutes later!

Welcome to Fairbanks!!
